"The rumors are not true. They are absolutely not true," he told British tab The Sun during a red carpet interview at the London premiere of Dark Shadows. “No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite ... I can’t say enough about it not being over.”
For her part, Paradis called the rumors "false" in a French-language interview with Le Grand Journal in January. She elaborated that they "could hurt my family. After that ... they say that we have 52 houses in France, we separate in winter, we get married every summer. Me, I'm in my 12th pregnancy ... All this is, I don't know, because the Queen of England didn't lose her teeth this week and there's nothing happening."
Despite the rumors, Depp and Paradis placed 21st in Zimbio's annual rankings of the 100 Hottest Celebrity Couples of 2012.
Following nearly a year's worth of worrying relationship rumors, Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have officially called it quits.
In a very brief statement sent to Entertainment Tonight, Depp's publicist explained Tuesday: "Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children."
Depp and Paradis were together 14 years. They met in the summer of 1998 while Depp was filming the Ninth Gate in Paris, and split their time between France, Hollywood, and their private island home while they were together. While Depp and Paradis never married, they have two children together, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9. They were long seen as a stable and successful couple in an industry plagued with a dauntingly high divorce rate.
Gossip started to plague the couple in late 2011, and by January People was lamenting their "Separate Lives." But as recently as last month, Depp was defending his relationship.
