Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in 2012?
This is a long shot, but there's a possibility that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart could step out as a couple at Cannes this year. Why? Well, the final installment of the Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part 2,
hits theaters in a few months, so their debut would mean some serious
press for the film. Plus, since they're no longer co-stars, it seems
like the perfect time to finally admit they've been dating all along.
They'll both already be in Cannes to support their respective new
flicks, so the timing seems oh-so right. Will it happen? Stay tuned!
Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen in 2011
Ryan Gosling's ex-girlfriend Rachel McAdams made her public debut with Midnight in Paris co-star Michael Sheen
at last year's Cannes Film Festival. They'd been linked since the
Toronto Film Festival a few months earlier (insiders said they were
caught smooching there), but the duo made it official in France last
May. Eyes were definitely on the blonde actress, who was wearing what
looked to be an engagement ring on her left hand. However, her rep
assured everyone that the stars were "100 percent not engaged." They're
still plugging along, but have no plans to walk down the aisle just yet.
Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio in 2011
Leonardo DiCaprio had just dumped girlfriend of nearly five years, Bar Refaeli, when he made his first public appearance with Gossip Girl star Blake Lively
while in Cannes last May. The pair seemed inseparable as they snuggled
aboard a luxury yacht and the cameras snapped away. Unfortunately, it
wasn't long before Lively moved on with Green Lantern co-star Ryan Reynolds. Will those two step out at Cannes this year?
Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson in 2008
Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson
avoided the red carpet together, but they did seem to confirm
speculation about their romantic relationship at Cannes in 2008. They were spotted making out at Diddy's yacht party and it was all caught on camera. About a month later, Lohan roundaboutly confirmed that the gals were dating. They lasted about a year before going their separate ways.
Sean Penn and Petra Nemcova
in 2012
Just weeks after model Petra Nemcova called off her engagement to Jamie Belman, she stepped out at Cannes with former fling Sean Penn.
Nemcova, 32, and Penn, 51, had their first go-around back in 2008, but
it only lasted a couple of weeks. Now, they seem smitten all over again.
The pair has attended many of this year's film events together,
including Penn's high-profile Haiti benefit Friday night. The blonde has
been sure to wear plenty of glitzy gowns while flirting with her man in
front of the cameras. He doesn't seem to mind at all.
Chris Pine and Dominique Piek in 2012
Actor Chris Pine and Sports Illustrated model Dominique Piek
have been rumored to be dating since last fall, but they had managed to
escape the cameras until choosing to step out together at Cannes
earlier this week. They held hands on the red carpet at the opening
night gala Wednesday and showed the world what a stunning pair they
make. Piek stole the show in a skintight Giorgio Armani gown while Pine
looked dapper in a nondescript tux. The brunette tweeted about their big
night: "Nothing could have prepared me for the crazy red carpet
experience. Thank goodness I made it in one piece up the stairs!"
Eva Longoria and Eduardo Cruz in 2012
This Desperate Housewives star didn't exactly make her big debut with Penelope Cruz's brother Eduardo
at Cannes, but they did make their "we're back together" debut at the
film fest. The pair had been dating since January 2011, but they
reportedly split in March of this year. However, rumors of a reunion
went around weeks later, but those reports weren't confirmed until they
stepped out at a fancy yacht party in France Friday evening. It looks
like things are back to normal, especially since Cruz was spotted in his
favorite black hat and unbuttoned white shirt.

The
Cannes International Film Festival has been bringing boatloads of stars
to France each May since 1946. It's the most prestigious of all the film
festivals, so it's no wonder than celebs bring their fanciest
ensembles, biggest smiles, and hottest dates to the 10-day event. In
fact, a handful of celebrity couples have chosen to make their
headline-making public debut at the film fest over the years. Check out
which stars have stepped out together for the first time at Cannes:
